WAEC has fixed a marking mistake in the 2025 WASSCE and released corrected results. The error came from a new paper serialisation system and affected some objective answer papers, including the English Objective paper. WAEC says students who took the computer based tests were not affected.

After the correction, the pass rate for candidates with at least five credit passes including English and Mathematics rose to about 62.96 percent. That is roughly 1.24 million of the 1,969,313 students who sat the exam.

Dr Amos Dangut, Head of WAEC Nigeria, apologised to students and parents at a press briefing in Yaba, Lagos. He said the council is sorry for the confusion and is working to finish processing the remaining results.

WAEC also said 191,053 results are being withheld because of alleged exam malpractice. Investigations are ongoing and affected students have official complaint channels to follow. This number is lower than last year.

If your result changed, check the WAEC portal and follow the council’s instructions. WAEC says it will complete processing outstanding results soon and will keep students and parents informed.
