Vice President Kashim Shettima’s commendation of Governor Peter Mbah’s transformative strides in Enugu highlights the state’s resurgence. With projects like the Garment Hub, Mbah’s visionary leadership is revitalizing Enugu’s economy.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has praised Governor Peter Mbah’s remarkable progress in Enugu State, stating that the state is experiencing a revival under his leadership. Shettima made these remarks during a visit to Enugu, where he commissioned the Enugu State Garment and Fashion Hub and unveiled the 5th Expanded National Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSME) Clinics. The Vice President was accompanied by the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji (Nwakaibie), and a delegation of National Assembly members from Eastern Nigeria, including Sen. Osita Ngwu, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu FNSE, and Hon. Sam Chimaobi, among others.
During his visit, Shettima toured several key projects initiated by Governor Mbah’s administration, including the Command and Control security infrastructure and the International Conference Centre. He emphasized the importance of focusing on development and leaving politics behind, noting that the Federal Government was committed to working with leaders like Mbah to advance national growth.
“Governor Peter Mbah is transforming Enugu through a series of visionary projects,” Shettima said. “I am particularly impressed with his investment in security infrastructure, water supply, and education. His Smart Schools initiative will undoubtedly yield significant dividends in the future. The technology and modern infrastructure I witnessed here are extraordinary, and Mbah’s leadership serves as a model for other governors across Nigeria.”
The Vice President also highlighted the significance of MSMEs in economic growth, noting that the Enugu Garment and Fashion Hub has the potential to create 48,000 jobs. He announced a N150,000 grant for outstanding MSMEs at the clinic, acknowledging the critical role these businesses play in driving local economies.
Governor Mbah reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to boosting MSMEs, recognizing their pivotal role in economic development. He expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its support in enabling these initiatives, while Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, praised the collaborative efforts between the Federal Government and Enugu State in creating opportunities for Nigerian youth.
The event concluded with special remarks from Arinze Chilo-Offia, Governor Mbah’s Special Adviser on MSMEs, and Temitola Adekunle Johnson, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation, both of whom thanked the Federal Government and Enugu State for the success of the initiatives.
