However, recent developments have cast a shadow over the hopes of the Igbo people, highlighting their marginalized status in the nation’s political landscape. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, led by the steadfast Chief Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, MFR, OFR, CFR, has raised its voice in a compelling call for justice, equity, and fairness, echoing the sentiments of many who share their concerns.
South East of Nigeria
At the heart of the matter lies a deeply troubling observation: the disproportionately low representation of the South East region in the recent ministerial appointments made by His Excellency Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. While some zones enjoy a more robust ministerial presence with nine (9) or even ten (10) ministers, the South East is left grappling with a mere five (5) ministerial slots. This glaring inequality has sparked a fervent debate on the principles of justice and fairness that should underscore the foundation of a united Nigeria.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s stance is unequivocal: unity can only be achieved on the bedrock of fairness, justice, and equity. Their demand for an equal distribution of opportunities resonates deeply with the desire for a harmonious nation that celebrates its diversity while working towards a shared future.
