Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected a U.S. offer to help him in his extraction from Kiev as Russian forces advanced toward the capital, his office said late Friday.

Defying western warnings, Russia launched an incursion into Ukraine late Wednesday night, citing reasons ranging from its own national security over the NATO dispute to the protection of Donetsk and Luhansk, two separatist regions whose independence the Kremlin recognized last week.
