Russia has announced, that the first phase of its war with Ukraine has ended.
Russia said the first phase of its military plan was now completed, announcing that the next main focus was now centered on eastern Ukraine.
A top Russian general, Colonel General Sergei Rudskoy, the first deputy chief of the Russian General Staff, said this in a briefing on Friday, according to CNN.
This is the first time Russia has given some of the most detailed public statements to date about its military strategy in Ukraine
“In general the main task of the first phase of operation has been completed,” he said. “The potential for the combat of the Ukrainian armed forces has decreased significantly, allowing us, I emphasize again, to focus its main efforts on achieving the main goal – the liberation of the Donbas. “Public and individual experts wonder what we are doing in the area of the blocked cities of Ukraine,” Rudskoy said.
Rudskoy said military action was carried out with the aim of destroying Ukraine’s infrastructure, equipment and military personnel, not only to stop Ukrainian troops from gathering in the Donbas, but also did not let them strengthen until Russian troops actually freed Donetsk. and the Luhansk People’s Republic.
The DPR and LPR are separatist regions in eastern Ukraine that Russia recognized on the eve of its investment into Ukraine.
