Turkey secured a place in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory over Austria on Tuesday night, thanks to two goals from center-back Merih Demiral.
Despite a goal from Austria’s Michael Gregoritsch in the 66th minute, Turkish goalkeeper Mert Günok made a crucial save in stoppage time, denying a header from Christoph Baumgartner.
Turkey will face the Netherlands in the quarterfinals.
