Abuja, June 11, 2025 — President Bola Tinubu has expressed his willingness to welcome Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike into the All Progressives Congress (APC), should he decide to switch allegiances.
During the commissioning of key roads in the Katampe district, Tinubu praised Wike for his leadership and cooperation. He joked, “He’s not in our party—yet—but the day he registers with us, we will welcome him because we will enjoy singing ‘as e dey sweet us, e dey pain them.’”
Describing the new infrastructure as more than just roads, Tinubu said the project exemplifies his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to transform Abuja and support sustainable urban development.
Wike, who remains a PDP stalwart serving in Tinubu’s cabinet, has previously expressed no regrets about supporting Tinubu in the 2023 election and continues to be actively involved in APC-led initiatives in the FCT.
Political analysts view Tinubu’s remarks as an attempt to entice a high-profile defection that could reshape the power dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
