A storm has broken out after the death of a 12-year-old student Sylvester Oromoni from Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos on Tuesday.
While the family is suspecting foul play, the school authorities claimed the child was injured while playing soccer. The Lagos State Government quickly stepped in by instituting an investigation and closing the school indefinitely. The incident also drew reactions from a cross section of Nigerians.
The deceased was said to have been assaulted by some cult group, who he identified before his death, as students of the college for refusing to join the fraternity.

Perrison Oromoni,A relation of the deceased, took to the blogging site, Twitter on Wednesday, to announce his demise.
He revealed that the 12-year-old passed away on Tuesday after a series of tests and X-rays indicated that he sustained internal injuries from severe beating.
The school denied all allegations alleging that Oromoni was not bullied or beaten but only complained of hip pain after playing football. Contrary to the school’s statement, the victim’s cousin released photo and video evidence, which tends to corroborate the fact that the child was bullied and beaten; an activity that could lead to his death.
