The family of Alexander Uzoma, a 20-year-old college student who was murdered by four suspected Internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys), has demanded justice for him. The older brother of the Business Administration student, who spoke to reporters in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State on Wednesday, faulted reports by police that the victim died after he went to see a friend.
They stated that Alexander, a Manchester United fan, left the house to watch football match at the viewing center around Adigbe, Abeokuta, when he went missing. State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, last week revealed that the command arrested four suspects in connection with the deaths.
Oyeyemi also said the suspects confirmed that they dumped Alexander’s body on the Kuto Bridge in Abeokuta on November 20.
He noted that the suspects told police that a 300level student from Imo State University visited them to study Internet fraud, after which he took a drug called Colorado and died. But reacting to the claims, one of the siblings, Jude, said he couldn’t understand how police came across the story that his brother had gone to see a friend. Jude said, “I was the one who wrote the statement when we got to the Adigbe Police Station with our mother. We didn’t tell them he was going to see a friend.
Where did the police get that information from?”
“Within this week, we will raise N200,000 for autopsy . What we want is that everyone should respect the dead by ensuring justice is served. Those who committed this crime should not use money to evade justice. Police must do their job diligently. ,” added Augustine. He said their distraught mother, Christiana Uzoma, a principal at St. Anglican Primary School. Peter, Ilogbo-Olofin, Ogun State, with other family members are in Imo State to mourn the death of their last child.
