The Socioeconomic Responsibility and Rights Project, SERAP, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to order Police Inspector General Usman Baba to investigate the attack on Peter Obi, the Labor Party presidential candidate, LP.

The human rights organization also called for other cases of election-related intimidation, harassment and violence to be investigated across the country.
The former governor of Anambra was reportedly stoned on his way to the airport after a rally in Katsina state.
SERAP said the attack occurred immediately after 339 reported incidents of intimidation, harassment and violence related to the 2022 elections.
SERAP demanded that IGP Baba and the Federation Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, appoint and prosecute guilty politicians and other perpetrators of violence.
Kolawole Oluwadare
An open letter on Sunday from SERAP Deputy Director Kolawole Oluwadare, He also accused Buhari of warning governors to end the suppression of opposition party campaigns within their states.
The agency believes that if the issue is tightened, violence would stop, free and fair elections would be facilitated, and Nigerians would be encouraged to freely exercise their right to vote.
Oluwadare said free and fair elections mean elections held under conditions that allow voters to cast their votes as they wish without facing intimidation or violence before, during and after the elections.
SERAP threatened to sue the president and compel the relevant agencies to comply with his request if he does not act.
The letter added that the government has a responsibility to take concrete actions “ to hold governors accountable for any violation of the Constitution, the Electoral Law and international human rights obligations ”.
