The Nigerian Senate Committee on Army has lauded the Special Forces of Operation HADIN KAI for their successful counter-terrorism operation in Kukawa, Borno State, which resulted in the elimination of Amir Abu Fatima, a high-profile Boko Haram/ISWAP commander with a ₦100 million bounty on his head. The operation, executed without any Nigerian military casualties, also led to the neutralization of his associates, Abu Maryam and Abu Modu, a known improvised explosive device (IED) expert.

Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, praised the precision, planning, and professionalism of the troops, stating that this victory is a testament to the bravery and dedication of the Nigerian Armed Forces. He emphasized that the elimination of Abu Fatima significantly disrupts the command structure of the terrorist network and boosts the confidence of citizens in the military’s ability to protect them.

The Senate Committee reaffirmed its full support for the Nigerian Army and pledged continued collaboration to ensure that troops are well-equipped, well-trained, and properly motivated to carry out their missions. They urged the military to maintain the momentum and continue aggressive operations against remaining terrorist elements to achieve long-term peace in the region.
