The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), the City of David on Victoria Island, Lagos, has launched a dating site. “No marriage in heaven!” the church posted on its official Facebook page, days after the website went live. “We’re here to help you connect and hopefully meet your better half.”
A visit to the website shows that the dating platform is connecting adults in preparation for courtship and marriage. Intending participants must register and process the details prior to approval. Participants are not expected to pay any fees to access the platform.
In a statement on the dating site, users of the platform are advised to do their due diligence before connecting with other participants. “God’s Redeemed Christian Church, City of David Parish makes no representations or warranties and expressly disclaims any and all liability regarding damages suffered by registrants as a result of connecting with anyone on this platform,” the disclaimer added.
In a video on his Facebook page, the parish priest, Idowu Iluyomade, says people on the platform vary in age. “We have from 20, 25 to 65,” Father Idowu said in a social media post. The platform already hosts virtual masterclasses for attendees where he teaches about the key ingredients for a successful marriage.
