During a state visit to Enugu on January 4, 2025, President Bola Tinubu lauded Governor Peter Mbah for his significant developmental achievements over the past 19 months. Emphasizing the importance of cross-party collaboration, President Tinubu stated, “The election is over, and we have to move the nation forward. You have demonstrated that irrevocable commitment towards human development.”
The President inaugurated several key projects, including:
Smart Green Schools: 30 completed and equipped schools, part of a larger initiative to construct 260 across the state’s wards.
Primary Healthcare Centres: 60 completed and equipped Type 2 centers, contributing to the goal of establishing 260 such facilities statewide.
Enugu International Conference Centre: A multi-auditorium, multi-functional facility aimed at boosting the state’s capacity to host significant events.
Urban Roads: 90 completed roads in Enugu City, enhancing transportation infrastructure.
Command and Control Centre: A state-of-the-art facility equipped with 150 patrol vehicles fitted with AI-embedded surveillance cameras to bolster security.
Governor Mbah expressed gratitude for the President’s visit and support, outlining his administration’s vision to expand Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion within the next four to eight years. He emphasized that substantial investments in security, education, health, and infrastructure are pivotal to realizing this vision. Highlighting the state’s AI-enhanced security initiative, Mbah noted, “This state-wide CCTV network is operated via this Command and Control Centre commissioned today.”
President Tinubu underscored the necessity of unity and forward-thinking policies, such as the removal of fuel subsidies, to ensure Nigeria’s sustainable development. He praised Governor Mbah’s efforts in attracting both foreign and local investors, stating, “There’s no better investment than the investment to secure lives.”
