The son-in-law of the former governor of Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has been released less than 24 hours after he was taken away during a church service in his hometown, Eziama Obieri in the Nkwerre Regional Government District in Imo State, by masked police agents. Nwosu in a statement issued on Monday by his media aide, Chikezie Nwadike, revealed that he did not spend the night at the police facility.
The statement also refuted speculation that Nwosu was arrested at a church because he refused to honor the many police invitations given him.
Nwosu said he was “fine” and thanked Nigerians who stood up for him when his safety was unknown.
The statement reads in part “This is to inform the general public, friends and well-wishers, supporters and well-wishers that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, who was abducted by security agencies while observing a church service at St Peter Umunwokwe Anglican Church Eziama-Obaire Nkwerre LGA Village, has regained his freedom and was released. He never spent a night in their custody as every effort was ensured to get him out
