Peter Gregory Obi, the former governor of Anambra state and Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential election, has responded to a statement made by Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, regarding the upcoming governorship election in Edo state.
Obaseki had described the election as a “do or die” situation.
According to Channels TV, the governor of Edo state stated that;
“It’s a do or die affair because if they do, we die, the level of impunity, the level of recklessness we see in the opposition party, if they take over Edo state, finished. That is the end,”.
Peter Obi has responded to the report, sharing his thoughts on his official X handle. He emphasized that, for the Labour Party, elections are not battles but rather chances to showcase true leadership. He stated that the Labour Party stands for and promotes authentic leadership.
“One party admits to having packaged fake leaders in the past. Who knows what they offer now, perhaps expired ones while another insists it is a do-or-die affair. At Labour Party, we offer genuine leadership built on competence, capacity and compassion. For us, elections are not war; they are opportunities to present authentic leadership and drive meaningful development”.
