George Obiozor, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the main Igbo sociocultural organization, has died.
He was the tenth general president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state announced this in a statement on Wednesday night.
He said, “ On behalf of the Imo state government, I, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of of Imo, sadly announce the death of a great son of Imo and Nigeria, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Professor George Obiozor. ”.
Uzodinma described the deceased as “ an exceptional diplomat and a tenacious patriot ”.
The governor said Obiozor’s death was a great loss to the state, southeast, and all of Nigeria.
“ I have no doubt that both Nigeria and the international community will miss his profound intellectual contributions and wise advice on national and global issues ”, said Mr. Uzodinma.
He said that Mr. Obiozor’s burial arrangements will be announced in due course by the family.
