Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq, the commander of 3 Brigade in Kano, has been arrested in Abuja for allegedly stealing rice that was meant for soldiers and selling military equipment.
The rice, given to soldiers as relief during tough times, was not shared properly by the general. Instead, he is accused of keeping most of it and selling the rest.
Additionally, General Sadiq sold military items like a large MIKANO generator from the Military Training Camp in Falgore, Kano, and official vehicles to scrap dealers.
He has been replaced by Brigadier General A.M. Tukur and is now being questioned by military police. Full investigations are underway, and he might face court charges soon.
The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has not yet commented on the situation.
