Netflix has increased its subscription prices in Nigeria again, making it the third time in less than a year. This is also the first price change in 2025.
According to Netflix’s website, here are the new prices:

Premium Plan: ₦8,500 (was ₦7,000)

Standard Plan: ₦6,500 (was ₦5,500)

Basic Plan: ₦4,000 (was ₦3,500)

Mobile Plan: ₦2,500 (was ₦2,200)
This price increase comes at a time when Nigerians are already struggling with high inflation, a weak naira, and rising costs of basic services.
Netflix Price Hike Adds to Tough Times for Viewers
Netflix isn’t the only one raising prices. MultiChoice, the company behind DStv and GOtv, also increased their subscription fees earlier this year.
From March 1, 2025, these are the new rates:
DStv:

Compact: ₦19,000 (was ₦15,700)

Compact Plus: ₦30,000 (was ₦25,000)

Premium: ₦44,500 (was ₦37,000)
GOtv:

Jinja: ₦3,900

Jolli: ₦5,800

Supa Plus: ₦16,800
No Official Statement Yet from Netflix
Netflix has not released an official reason for this new price hike. However, experts believe it may be due to the high cost of doing business in Nigeria and the current state of the economy.
As prices go up, many people might start thinking twice about keeping all their subscriptions. Some might switch to cheaper options or cancel altogether.
