Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has explained the urgency driving his administration’s transformational agenda, citing pressing challenges in key sectors and the need to meet the aspirations of the state’s residents. Speaking during a holy mass at the Government House Chapel to mark the start of the work year, Mbah called for continued dedication from citizens and workers to sustain the momentum.

“Your support and commitment to duty were instrumental to our modest achievements in 2024. The only way to express our gratitude is by intensifying our efforts to make Enugu a premier destination for business, investment, tourism, and living,” he said.

Mbah reassured citizens that his administration’s inclusive governance model would ensure grassroots participation in the state’s development. Addressing concerns about the administration’s rapid pace, he emphasized the impossibility of postponing critical projects like portable water supply, functional healthcare, modern transportation, and 21st-century education.

“We face monumental challenges, but delaying these transformative policies is not an option. Every sector—health, roads, industries, and education—demands immediate action,” Mbah stated.

The governor also lauded Enugu residents for their warm reception of President Bola Tinubu during his recent visit to commission completed projects. He outlined an ambitious agenda for 2025, including the opening of Smart Green Schools by September, the relaunch of the Hotel Presidential, and the inauguration of the 300-bed Enugu International Hospital and a 340-bed five-star hotel by May.

Additionally, Mbah highlighted progress on 260 primary healthcare centers, backed by the recruitment of 2,500 medical personnel, 450 of whom have already been employed.

“Let us approach 2025 with the same purpose and team spirit that defined our successes in 2024,” he concluded.
