Women Selecting Used Items At Katanguwa Market In Abule Egba Lagos

Market women at Iyana Ipaja market in Lagos State’s Alimosho Local Government Area have appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for help against illegal extortion by thugs.

Protesting in the streets, the women accused Ishola Ejigbadero of employing the thugs, who claim ownership of the market site and have been harassing them with heavy fines. The traders said their efforts to stop the thugs have failed, making life unbearable due to the extortion. They carried posters urging Council Chair Jelili Sulaimon and the government to intervene. Market leaders noted that since Jimoh Ejigbadero stopped collecting revenue, the collectors have been terrorizing Iyana Ipaja. They are calling for immediate government action. The women are pleading with Governor Sanwo-Olu to rescue them from the thugs and restore peace to their market.
