The former commander , the Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, has refused food offered to him by the Nigerian Correctional Service after being held in prison on Monday. The suspended Deputy Police Commissioner, known, choosed food prepared by his wife or other family members.
Kyari, who was tried for drug trafficking along with four other policemen, was denied bail by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. The National Narcotics Law Enforcement Agency has been in court, accusing Kyari and four other officers of conspiring, blocking and dealing with cocaine worth 17.55kg. The court judge, Judge Emeka Nwike, ordered drug agents to move the defendants to prison, shortly after he refused their bail.
The court stated that the NDLEA placed sufficient materials before him to guarantee the rejection of guarantees for Kyari and her colleagues – Sunday Ubia, Simon Agirgba, and John Nuhu, who were former IRT members. Findings on Wednesday showed that Kyari and the other four officers had settled in a detention center but sources said DCP had largely taken care of itself since its arrival on Monday.
An officer said , “We suspected that he may not eat the food being served here. So, we were not surprised when he opted for the food prepared by his wife or family members.
“His presence has, however, generated excitement in the facility.
