In a startling revelation at a press conference held at the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation in Abuja on January 18, 2024, Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, the Minister of State for Water, Resources, and Sanitation, has declared a commitment to collaborate with relevant stakeholders for the cleanup of Jabi Lake.

Expressing grave concern over the dwindling eco-hydrological value of the lake, Goronyo pointed fingers at encroachment by miscreants and vandals as the culprits. He underscored the urgency of putting a stop to unauthorized activities jeopardizing the water body and its delicate ecosystem, citing the necessity to preserve it for future water supply and demand.

The minister didn’t mince words about the challenges faced by the Eco-hydrology research team, citing increased building structures around the lake hindering access to its shorelines. He assured stakeholders of his determination to reach out and collaborate to address these threats, emphasizing the need to protect Jabi Lake.
