US, UK Strike 36 Houthi Targets In Yemen In Bid To End Ship Attacks
An international coalition led by the United States and Britain has launched a series of extensive airstrikes on multiple sites in Yemen controlled by Houthi militants, according to U.S. officials. The airstrikes, conducted with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, targeted Houthi installations aimed at disrupting their ability to attack ships in critical sea lanes.

The coalition’s operation, which struck 18 targets across eight locations in Yemen, focused on underground weapons storage facilities, missile storage facilities, unmanned aerial systems, air defense systems, radars, and other military infrastructure utilized by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
The decision to carry out these strikes was driven by ongoing Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which have posed significant threats to global trade and maritime security. The recent escalation in attacks prompted the coalition to respond with what they deemed “necessary and proportionate” measures to safeguard international interests and protect innocent lives.
Houthi militants have launched attack drones and cruise and ballistic missiles at vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Despite condemnation from the Houthis, who denounced the airstrikes as “U.S.-British aggression,” the coalition remains resolute in its mission to degrade Houthi capabilities and ensure the security of vital waterways. In response to the coalition’s actions, the Houthis have vowed to escalate their military operations, raising concerns about further destabilization in the region.
