Despite recent threats from the Labor Party to rock the political boat in Enugu State, the ruling PDP is not ready to let go.
The PDP has ruled the state of Enugu since the rise of the current democracy in 1999 and is firmly rooted.
The Obident movement and the decision of some PDP bigwigs to abandon ship and plant the Labor flag are a threat, but the PDP appears determined to resist the pressure.
Thus, the appointment of former gubernatorial candidate and former state PDP chairman Chief Ikeji Asogwa was seen as a bold pre-campaign statement by the PDP
Dr. Peter Mbah appointed Chief Ikeje Asogwa as the CEO of his campaign organization.
Mbah in a statement released by press officer Peter Mbah, said Asogwa will coordinate, oversee and manage all aspects of the PDP’s campaign for the state’s 2023 gubernatorial election. The statement says in parts:
“I am pleased to announce Chief Ikeje Asogwa as CEO of the Peter Mbah Campaign Organization.
“Chief Asogwa has a wealth of experience as the former chairman of our great party in Enugu State. He will charge the campaign with his characteristic charisma, energy, understanding of politics and mastery of political strategy and effective communications.
“As CEO, he will coordinate, oversee and manage all aspects of the PDP’s campaign for a resounding victory for our party in the 2023 gubernatorial election.”
The statement added that other appointments will be announced in the coming days and weeks.
Asogwa served two terms as Managing Director of the Enugu Public Housing Corporation and, prior to his current appointment, was Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Commission on Universal Basic Education (EN-SUBEB).
