“Igbo Renaissance on the Horizon,” Says Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu at Ohanaeze Thanksgiving

Enugu, Nigeria — In a stirring address during the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral Church of Good Shepherd, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, delivered a message of hope and determination to the Igbo people globally. He assured them that them would soon see a resurgence in their fortunes.
The Thanksgiving was held as part of this year’s Igbo Day Celebration scheduled on 29th September, at the Michael Okpara Square, Independence Layout Enugu. The Thanksgiving was witnessed by an assembly of Ohanaeze Ndigbo leaders and prominent Igbo figures, including Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma.
Chief Iwuanyanwu expressed his unwavering belief in the potential of the Igbo to achieve greatness once more. He pledged his administration’s dedication to harnessing these potentials and commended the support received from the governors of the five South East states.
He stated, “We are here to give thanks to God; we believe in what the preacher said that once you put your trust in God, He will never fail you. My life is a testimony of God’s love.”
Acknowledging the significance of Enugu in Eastern Nigeria, he added, “Enugu is the home of everybody in Eastern Nigeria. Enugu is the cradle of all the developments in Eastern Nigeria, and whenever we come here, we have a sense of homecoming, and that is how I feel right now.”
In a show of unity and support, Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Chukwuma, the Archbishop of Enugu Province and Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria, emphasized the importance of rallying behind Chief Iwuanyanwu’s leadership.
Archbishop Chukwuma in solidarity to Iwuanyanwu’s leadership said, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Nnayi, Iwuanyanwu, I thank you for coming; my people, please, this is a new Ohanaeze Ndigbo.” He urged all Igbo leaders to unite under this leadership and lauded the efforts to eliminate factionalism.
Furthermore, Archbishop Chukwuma called upon the federal government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to Ohanaeze Ndigbo. He believed this action would contribute to peace restoration in the South East, emphasizing the importance of adherence to the rule of law.
“We must make Tinubu obey the rule of law; Nnamdi Kanu must be released; they should stop deceiving themselves,” Archbishop Chukwuma declared. He emphasized the need for collaboration to revive the economy of the South East, particularly in countering the impact of sit-at-home orders.
