“I lost my first child while in police custody, was robbed, and now I’m hungry,”

Nofisat Sikiru, who became a viral sensation during the Endbadgovernance national protest for carrying an empty pot, said that hunger was her driving force for protesting.

In an interview with BBC News, Nofisat shared her life struggles, highlighting the experiences that led her to join the protest.
She said, “I want to let the world know that I have nothing to eat, which is why I came out to protest. I sell food at Ojota and have done various jobs, even losing my money to thieves. I lost my child while in a cell on June 12th, and I’ve been stuck ever since. This was my main reason for bringing a pot to the protest.”
Nofisat expressed gratitude to those who have supported her, promising to invest the money in her business. “I want to thank the person who gave me money and pray for his continued success. I promise to use the money for my business and not for other frivolities.” She also urged the government to alleviate the unbearable hardship faced by the people.
