Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu Backs UNN Alumni Association’s Ambitious Plans for University Revival

In a promising development for the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Hon. Engr. Anayo B. Onwuegbu FNSE, representing the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, has thrown his weight behind the Abuja branch of the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association. The association, during a courtesy visit to Hon. Engr. Onwuegbu’s residence in Maitama, Abuja, received a significant promise of support from the esteemed Member of the House of Representatives.

Expressing concern over the current state of infrastructure at UNN, Hon. Engr. Onwuegbu assured the alumni members of his commitment to leveraging his influence and resources to help the institution regain its former eminence. He emphasized the importance of restoring UNN’s stature not only within Nigeria but also across the African continent.

Commending the Alumni Association for their initiative in revitalizing UNN, Hon. Engr. Onwuegbu expressed wholehearted support for their endeavour, stating, “Your thoughts are wonderful, I am completely in, let us help University of Nigeria Nsukka regain its lost glory, it is important.”

During the meeting, Dr. David C. Nwogbo, President of the Alumni Association Abuja, extended congratulations to Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu on his election to the Federal House of Representatives. He also outlined the association’s plans to restore UNN’s former prestige, with Dr. Ejike Orji providing detailed insights into the strategies envisaged for the university’s rejuvenation.

Among those present at the gathering were notable figures such as Dr. Ejike Orji, ALOHA; Mr. Clement Nze, Director General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency; Mr. Polly Nwoke, an Estate Surveyor and Valuer; Mrs. Ethel Igboeche from Vanguard Newspapers; Mr. Patrick Okoro; and Mr. Ugochukwu Iloefe.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a congratulatory letter to Hon. Engr. Onwuegbu by the President Abuja Branch of the Alumni Association, underscoring the unity and determination driving the collaborative efforts toward UNN’s resurgence.
