Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has expressed doubts about the influence Nnamdi Kanu might still hold over members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). In a recent statement, Soludo highlighted the growing disconnect between the group’s initial ideals and its current trajectory. According to him, both Kanu and IPOB have disassociated themselves from criminal activities perpetrated by rogue elements claiming to represent their cause.
The governor further remarked, “Even if Nnamdi Kanu is released today, I’m not sure they would listen to him because what they now pursue is wealth, not liberation.” His comments come amidst ongoing calls for Kanu’s release and concerns about the group’s fragmentation. Soludo’s remarks underscore the complexities surrounding the IPOB movement and its evolving dynamics.
