Gov. Nasir Idris Allocates N309.5 Million for Foreign Scholarships, Demonstrates Commitment to Education

In a demonstration of commitment to education, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has authorized the disbursement of N309.5 million to facilitate the foreign scholarships of 86 bright scholars pursuing their academic endeavour in India and Egypt.

The announcement came through the state’s Commissioner for Ministry of Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, during a press briefing held in Birnin Kebbi recently. Abubakar-Tunga lauded the governor’s proactive stance, emphasizing the critical importance of investing in human capital development.

“Governor Nasir Idris has demonstrated firm support for education by allocating N228.1 million for 63 students in India and N81.4 million for 23 students in Egypt, amounting to a commendable total of N309.5 million,” he affirmed.
Furthermore, Abubakar-Tunga emphasized the urgency in settling the financial obligations of the remaining 50 students pursuing studies abroad, highlighting the administration’s dedication to ensuring no scholar is left behind.

This allocation follows closely on the heels of Governor Idris’s earlier disbursement of local scholarships to students enrolled in 36 tertiary institutions across the nation, a proof to his holistic approach towards advancing education opportunities for Kebbi’s youth.
