Four individuals, including a contractor for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), were killed during a terrorist attack on the Kangiwa Border Post in Kebbi State. The attack occurred on Friday evening, January 10, 2025, in Kangiwa Local Government Area.

The spokesman for the NIS, Kenneth Udo, confirmed the incident and revealed that security agencies are working together to find those responsible.

The attack happened around 7:20 p.m. and targeted contractors and local staff at the site. Among the victims were a security guard and three contractors. Although no Immigration officers were harmed, the attackers caused severe damage to the border facilities.

Speaking on the attack, Udo expressed the Service’s condolences to the families of the deceased and condemned the act. “We deeply regret this unfortunate incident and are committed to ensuring that the perpetrators are identified and held accountable,” he said.

The Immigration Service assured Nigerians of its continued commitment to securing the nation’s borders. “Despite the challenges, we remain dedicated to protecting our borders and supporting national security,” Udo added.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the NIS is collaborating with other security agencies to ensure justice is served.
