The Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Magashi (rtd),has revealed that the federal government expects the delivery of three new types of fighter aircraft to overcome uncertainty, in addition to the recent procurement of multi-purpose attack aircraft J-F17 Thunder and Super Tucano.
When 49 new officers were deployed and 1,549 people recruited in Kaduna on Saturday, General Lucky Irabor entered Kaduna. The minister gave the names of the aircraft as the reconnaissance aircraft DA-42, Trekker A109 helicopter and Beechcraft KA 360i aircraft.
The minister ordered the military to do everything possible to protect Nigeria’s life and property from various security challenges that plague the country at that time.
According to the minister, the military profession they have chosen requires discipline, loyalty and absolute hard work, among other things, and adds that it is more than just work, especially at this crucial time in the history of the nation, as they have difficulty facing the challenges of uncertainty in several areas.
He said,“As such, you are expected to secure the lives and properties of the Nigerian people and ensure that they can live in peace and pursue their legitimate aspirations without fear. Such a noble service demands extraordinary courage, commitment, and patriotism, and Nigeria will continue to count on you and demand such qualities from you.”
He explained, that the recent procurement of aircraft by the federal government, such as the multi-purpose aircraft J-F17 Thunder and the attack aircraft Super Tucano, has increased the capacity of the Nigerian Air Force. Addressing the current security challenges in this country is evidence of the President’s search for equipment from the Nigerian Air Force.
He added that the Nigerian Air Force is also expecting to ship DA 42 surveillance aircraft, A109 trekker helicopters and Beechcraft KA 360i aircraft in the coming years, under so many other requirements and thank the President for strengthening the armed forces and promising their unwavering loyalty and full commitment to restoring peace and order in all parts of the world Country.
