Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu said the Federal Government was willing to partner with investors in the electricity sector to boost the country’s electricity supply.

Mathew Osumanyi Dan’asabe, Information, Press and Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Power, said in a statement.

Aliyu made the announcement while accepting Turkey’s ambassador to Nigeria, Mr.

Mr Hidayet Bayratar, in company of two other delegates in office in Abuja.
He said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s desire towards the power sector was to ensure that the electricity supply industry is owned by both government and the private sectors.

According to him, the relationship between Nigeria and Turkey is a longstanding relationship that led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Turkey and Nigeria in October 2021 for mutual benefit. Aliyu told the ambassador that various interventions were being incorporated into the country’s electricity sector. He described the distribution aspect of the country’s electricity sector as an area worth investing in.

The minister urged Turkey and the rest of the world to partner with Nigeria and share experiences in the fields of energy, renewable energy and energy efficiency. In his response, the Ambassador said their visit was a follow-up to the MoU signed in 2021. (NAN)
