The People’s Democratic Party in Ekiti State has described the declaration of president Governor Kayode Fayemi in Abuja, as a “declaration of failure”.
PDP, accused the governor of wasting millions of Ekiti State naira on his president’s ambitions, left behind pensioners’ rights, salaries and unpaid deductions, and challenged Fayemi to tell Nigerians how well he has ruled the state to qualify him as president of Nigeria.
The parties statement “Fayemi wasted millions of naira, Ekiti money to declare failure in Abuja – PDP” by the State Publicity Secretary, Raphael Adeyanju.
It is unfortunate that 95 percent of those who attend the declaration are transported from Ekiti to Abuja on state government bills. The presidential declaration, which is 95 percent of Ekiti’s presence, should be held in Ado Ekiti.
“From the information we have obtained, more than N300 million of Ekiti’s money was spent on the declaration while more than N1 billion was spent on governor consultations throughout the country,” PDP said.
While blaming the governor’s claim that he would handle security in Nigeria if elected president, the PDP said, “Residents of the State of Ekiti can no longer sleep with their eyes closed, most of the road has been taken over by bandits who kidnap people at will and collect cigarettes, noodles, beer cans, sachet water and so on as a ransom.“If Ekiti is not secured under Fayemi as the governor, how can Nigeria be secured under him as the president? Can the country afford to replace a tyrannical emperor like Buhari with Fayemi his alter ego? What will be the fate of the Nigerian workers under president Fayemi who takes pleasure in sacking workers as a state governor?”
PDP spokesman alleged that Ekiti State workers employed by the PDP government were fired by Fayemi in All Progressive Congress government, and that when the court ruled that fired workers would be rehired, Fayemi refused.
PDP asked, “Is that what he would replicate as Nigeria’s president?”
