An explosion occurred at the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State on January 9, 2025, around 12:10 a.m., resulting in the deaths of two police officers, Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.
According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, the attack has been attributed to suspected Boko Haram Terrorists.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has condemned the attack and directed security agencies to take immediate action against those responsible.
In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IG assured the public that no individual or group involved in the killing of police officers would escape justice.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 15, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, has been asked to gather resources and work with other security agencies to find and arrest those responsible.
The IG also extended his condolences to the families of the deceased officers and assured them of prompt payment of their benefits and entitlements. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
