Dr. Abdullahi highlighted the sacrifices made by communities along the banks of the River Niger, which have been crucial for hydroelectric power generation in Nigeria. These communities have endured severe ecological impacts, adversely affecting their socio-economic well-being for many years. However, the Emir noted that with the establishment of N-HYPPADEC, there has been a notable improvement in addressing these longstanding issues.

N-HYPPADEC’s interventions have spanned various sectors, including potable water supply, agriculture, education, health, and empowerment. Noteworthy among these efforts is the Commission’s initiative to clear tree logs and other obstacles from waterways, thereby enhancing safety and navigation.
