Donald Trump has been inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, marking an unprecedented second, non-consecutive term after serving as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.
The indoor swearing-in ceremony at the US Capitol, held due to extreme cold, began with Vice President JD Vance, a former Ohio senator, taking his oath. Chief Justice John Roberts then swore in Trump at 12 p.m. ET, with First Lady Melania Trump by his side.
The event had a limited audience of around 700 guests, far fewer than the anticipated 250,000.
