The ancient city of Daura in Katsina State today become a beehive of activities, as dignitaries besieged the city to witness the turbaning ceremony of the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, who took the title, Dan Amanar Daura.

NewsGlobal gathered that the decision to honour the Minister with such a prestigious title by the Emir of Daura, Alh. Umar Farouk Umar was in appreciation of his tremendous contributions towards the location of federal projects in Daura city of Katsina State.

A source close to the Emir’s palace revealed that among the federal projects influenced by Amaechi to be sited in Daura included the University of Transport, the Federal Polytechnic, Daura and the Kano to Niger railway line that will pass through Daura.
“Usually, the railway line is supposed to go directly to Kano and then to the Republic of Niger, but Amaechi made it possible to pass through Daura without even President’s knowledge.
“Amaechi has influenced many federal projects in Daura to the point that the city has benefited more from this government than other parts of Katsina State.
“Whatever game he was playing, he managed to touch people’s minds. That is why the Emir decided to honor him,” the source said.
President Muhammadu Buhari described the granting of the title of “Dan Amana” (the trusted one)to Amaechi as a clear commitment to the harmonious relationship between the nation’s diverse cultures.
Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President for Media and Publicity, quoted the President in praising Amaechi “for working with enormous energy to make the CHANGE we promised Nigerians a reality,” and said that “the change we are witnessing in the transport sector is an extraordinary legacy.”
A presidential delegation composed of the Ministers of Water Resources, Engineer Sulaiman Adamu, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika and Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) Garba Shehu attended the event which took place at the Emir’s Palace in Daura.
