Cardi B and Offset are being sued for featuring a luxury Beverly Hills mansion in the music video for Cardi’s song “Like What,” which was directed by Offset.
The lawsuit, filed by the property owner, alleges that Cardi B and Offset misrepresented their intention, claiming they planned to film a TikTok video rather than a full-scale music video, in order to avoid standard rental fees.
Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that the homeowner allowed Cardi, Offset, and their team to use the mansion for free, under the impression it was for a short TikTok shoot. The owner claims that, had he known the property would be used for a high-production music video, which has since garnered over 27 million views on YouTube, he would have charged the appropriate rental fees. The owner is now seeking more than $35,000 in damages.
The property, previously rented by Justin Bieber and featured in a Logan Paul video, is prominently showcased in the “Like What” music video. The lawsuit alleges that Cardi B and Offset have financially benefited from using the mansion without fairly compensating the owner.
Cardi B, however, has denied the accusations and is pushing back. She addressed the lawsuit on social media, stating she paid $10,000 in cash for 24-hour access to the property and covered additional fees for exceeding the time limit. Cardi claims the property owner was present throughout the shoot, along with realtors, and that they were fully aware a full music video—not just a TikTok video—was being filmed.
Cardi tweeted, “We paid those people $10,000 IN CASH to rent the property for a whole 24 hours… Now they wanna finesse us trying to say we told them it was a TikTok video… IRON YOUR BEST SUIT BITCH I’ll see you in court!!!!”
The lawsuit adds to the couple’s challenges, as they recently welcomed their third child while navigating ongoing divorce proceedings. Despite the legal dispute, Cardi B is determined to prove her case in court
