Folakemi Falana, daughter of renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, has responded to allegations of bribery and corruption involving her father, her brother Falz, and Nigerian socialite Bobrisky. In a Friday Instagram post, Folakemi refuted claims, stating that her father has never interacted with Bobrisky, and clarified that Bobrisky had contacted Falz only for financial help to stay in the VIP section of prison, with no discussion of a presidential pardon.
She provided evidence of Falana & Falana’s longstanding practice of seeking presidential pardons free of charge since 2016, stressing that anyone in Nigeria can request a pardon for a convicted individual. Folakemi expressed disappointment that some Nigerians are quick to believe unfounded allegations, including rumors of Falz being homosexual and having an affair with Bobrisky. She wrote, “My parents and our firm, Falana & Falana, have been applying for presidential pardons for Nigerians FREE, long before many of you were born or could even speak. The documents I’ve shared are from 2016 and 2022.
“It’s shocking that some Nigerians act as if they can’t read or think critically. Even more disheartening is how easily a character like VDM can accuse my dad and Falz of bribery, corruption, and obstructing justice, and people are quick to forget their integrity. The audacity of accusing Falz of being gay and having an affair with Bobrisky is outrageous. What’s even more baffling is that some people believe these claims. For clarity, anyone can write to the president to request a pardon for a convicted person in Nigeria.”
