The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has filed a landmark lawsuit before the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenging the defections of several governors elected on its platform, but defecting to the opposition People’s Democratic Party, the PDP.
Ortom, Obaseki and Tambuwal Sources screamed at us that the party had hired a large number of Nigerian Senior Advocates (SANs) for the job. According to our sources, those whose defections from the APC were challenged by the APC are Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State and Godwin Obaseki of Edo State. Sources reveal that the APC is also challenging the defection of former Senate President Bukola Saraki who also defected from the APC to the PDP, asking the courts to bar him from contesting an elective position in the country for the next 30 years, as punishment for defection. We gather that the Senior Advocate hired for the job has started litigation proceedings and will be in court on Monday.
