Alaafin Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, is dead and he died at the age of 83.
According to palace officials he died on Friday evening at Afe Babalola University Hospital in Ado Ekiti.
The first son of Late Alaafin, Prince Tunde and other children had received the king’s body in Idi-Igba, the city of Oyo, on Saturday morning.
Newsglobal also gathered that the traditional ritual has begun without giving details of its funeral arrangements.
Adeyemi ruled 52 years before his death, making him the longest ruling Alaafin.
Traditionally, Oyomesi Chairman Basorun of Oyo, Supreme Chairman Yusuf Ayoola, will take over until the new Alaafin is appointed. Basorun is also expected to give instructions to Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde prior to the official announcement.
Alaafin from Oyo came from the Adeyemi branch of the Alowolodu family. He was on the 15th. Born October 1938.

Adeyemi’s death occurred after the death of Soun von Ogbomoso, Jimoh Oyewumi and Olubadan from Ibadanland, Saliu Adetunji, each on the 12th. December 2021 died, and 2 January 2022.
