A devastating tanker explosion occurred on Saturday at the bustling Soka junction in Ore, sending traders and passengers fleeing for their lives. According to eyewitness Eze Chukwuma, a local cloth merchant, the tanker veered off the road and crashed into a ditch before erupting into flames.
Chukwuma recounted, “The incident happened earlier this evening as the driver was navigating the Ore route. The tanker suddenly swerved off the road and plunged into a massive ditch, sparking widespread panic among residents and motorists.”
Samuel Ibitoye, sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the accident. While acknowledging the incident, Ibitoye emphasized that swift action was taken to prevent any loss of life or property damage.
This tragic incident occurred mere hours after a massive fire ravaged a shopping complex in Akure, compounding the distress in the region.
