“Abuja Opens for Business: Tinubu Commends Wike’s Push for Growth and Development”
President Bola Tinubu has praised Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike for reinvigorating Abuja’s investment landscape, stating that the city is once again attracting both local and foreign investors thanks to recent infrastructure developments.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Extended Inner Southern Expressway—part of a series of road projects inaugurated over the past year—Tinubu commended Wike’s leadership. He noted that the pace at which new roads and transportation links have been completed would transform Abuja into a world-class capital city. Tinubu emphasized that the redeveloped expressways symbolize more than just connectivity: they represent renewed hope for economic prosperity. He assured that infrastructure will remain a central focus of his administration’s agenda.
Wike, speaking earlier at an Abuja Business and Investment Summit, echoed this optimistic tone. He described Abuja as a land of opportunity, highlighting ongoing efforts to upgrade roads, streamline land allocation processes, and establish efficient utilities. Wike unveiled plans for nine additional major projects across sectors such as real estate, agriculture, healthcare, tourism, technology, mining, construction, and renewable energy. He assured investors of a simplified regulatory environment backed by the Abuja Investment Company and the Abuja Enterprise Agency.
The minister’s invitation to investors was underpinned by a drive for inclusive growth—a message reinforced by Charles Soludo, governor of Anambra State. Soludo, a speaker at the same event, emphasized the importance of Nigerians supporting home-grown products and industries. He shared his own example of driving a locally manufactured Innoson vehicle and wearing traditional Akwete attire, calling such choices “economic nationalism.”
Support for Wike’s initiatives has also come from stakeholders outside the capital. Former Benue State governor Samuel Ortom praised Tinubu’s appointment of Wike as FCT minister, highlighting the cooperative spirit across political lines. Ortom described the developments in Abuja as “monumental,” attributing the changes to the alignment between Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Wike’s execution.
These combined efforts—ranging from major road commissions to policy reforms—signal a commitment to revitalizing Abuja’s economy. The renewed focus on infrastructure is expected to enhance job creation, support trade, and draw sustained investment into previously underdeveloped sectors.
