President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate’s approval for the 2025 Appropriation Bill of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), with a proposed budget of N1.7 trillion aimed at reducing poverty. The request was presented in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read during Wednesday’s plenary, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria.

Citing Section 299 of the Nigerian Constitution, which grants the National Assembly legislative authority over the FCT, Tinubu submitted the 2025 budget for Senate consideration. The proposal emphasizes funding for key areas, including healthcare, job creation, youth empowerment, social welfare, education, and agricultural productivity.

Tinubu specified that 85% of the capital budget would be dedicated to completing ongoing projects, while the remaining 15% would focus on new initiatives. This strategy is intended to maintain the momentum in delivering essential infrastructure and social services across the FCT.

Expressing confidence in the Senate’s support, the president urged for a prompt review and approval of the budget proposal.
