The Nigeria Police Force has called on the “Take It Back Movement” (TIB) to cancel their planned protest scheduled for today, citing the timing as problematic. The protest coincides with National Police Day, a day set aside to honor police officers across the country.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, expressed concerns that the protest could harm the image of the police force and the nation. He described the planned protest as “ill-conceived” and “mischievous.”

The Take It Back Movement, led by political activist Omoyele Sowore, has stated its intention to go ahead with the protest, despite the police warning. The movement has said the protest is necessary to address issues related to the Cybercrime Act and the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

Authorities have warned that the demonstration could cause unnecessary disruption, but the movement remains firm in its plans to mobilize supporters for the nationwide action.

The police have asked the organizers to reconsider their plans, stressing the importance of peaceful public order. As the situation unfolds, authorities are closely monitoring any developments related to the protest.
