The Commissioner of Police for Enugu State, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has urged residents to disregard a viral video from an unidentified source urging them to observe a sit-at-home on Monday, 21st, and Tuesday, 22nd October 2024. CP Uzuegbu labeled the call and its justification as unfounded and a deliberate attempt to incite fear and unrest in the state.
He highlighted that Enugu State has moved beyond the era of illegal sit-at-home orders, which were often intended to disrupt the social, economic, and psychological well-being of the people under the guise of secessionist movements.
CP Uzuegbu encouraged residents to go about their lawful activities without fear, assuring them that the police, in partnership with other security agencies, are ready to maintain peace and security across the state. He also warned that anyone attempting to disrupt public order would face strict consequences.
Additionally, the Commissioner urged parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against participating in activities that could threaten the state’s peace, stressing that such actions would carry serious legal repercuss
ions.
