The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has raised petrol prices to N998 per litre in Lagos and N1,030 in Abuja, reflecting the full deregulation of the downstream oil sector. This is a significant increase from last month’s rates of N855 in Lagos and N916 in Abuja.
Newsglobal gathered that , NNPCL is purchasing petrol from Dangote Refinery at N977 per litre, adding N21 for costs and taxes. Unlike previous months, NNPCL is not absorbing any price differences.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has condemned the price hike, stating that it will deepen poverty, reduce production, and cause job losses. The NLC has called on the government to reverse the increase, stressing that the rising cost of petrol continues to burden Nigerians.
