The Federal Government has suspended the officials responsible for the Maximum and Minimum Custodial Centres in Kirikiri, Lagos State, after an audio leak surfaced, alleging that cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison, was provided with an apartment outside the custodial center.

This was revealed by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday, September 26.

According to Ahmed, the suspension of the officers is to allow for further investigation on the various allegations, assuring that the outcome would be made public when concluded.

In response to a viral video on social media alleging misconduct by officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service involving Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board has immediately suspended several senior officers.

The suspended officers include Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kirikiri, Lagos State, and Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) responsible for the Maximum Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kirikiri, Lagos State.

Additionally, ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, based at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, has been suspended for allegedly escorting a convicted inmate outside the facility.
