The people of Enugu State and tourists alike are set for a thrilling and memorable Christmas celebration, as the Enugu State Government, led by Governor Peter Mbah, has awarded contracts for the upgrade of five recreation parks within the capital city. This move aligns with Governor Mbah’s vision to transform Enugu into a top destination for business, tourism, and recreation.
The parks set for upgrade include Edward Nnaji Park in New Haven, Ngwo Park, Eze Park in Uwani, Ejindu Park at Coal Camp, and Unity Park in Independence Layout. According to Dame Rita Mbah, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Tourism Board, each park will be equipped with modern facilities to provide wholesome entertainment for families, residents, and visitors.
Edward Nnaji Park, the largest among them, will feature a game arcade, bowling alley, water park, amusement park, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Eze Park, Ejindu Park, and Ngwo Park will have standard sports amenities, including football pitches, basketball courts, tennis courts, and more. Additionally, Ngwo and Eze parks will offer unique attractions like horse and quad bike rides, while Unity Park will feature children’s recreation facilities and train rides.
Dame Mbah further noted that the parks would be fully functional by Christmas, ensuring that residents and visitors alike can enjoy the festive season. She also emphasized the heightened security measures in place, including surveillance cameras and the Distress Response Squared special police unit, aimed at ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.
This initiative is part of Governor Peter Mbah’s broader commitment to revitalizing tourism and public infrastructure in Enugu. His administration has already completed and commissioned 71 urban roads, with 141 more awarded for construction. Additionally, the first phase of a city beautification project is underway, enhancing Enugu’s aesthetic appeal and improving the mental well-being of its residents.
Governor Mbah’s focus on tourism development and city beautification reflects his desire to elevate Enugu’s status on both the national and international stages. As the holiday season approaches, Enugu is fast becoming a top choice for travelers seeking a vibrant and secure destination.
Enugu is indeed transforming into the “preferred destination for business, investment, tourism, and living,” as promised by Governor Peter Mbah.
