In a major development, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a targeted strike on what it claims to be a joint terrorist operations center in Jenin. The operation, codenamed “Home and Garden” (Bayit V’gan), is being hailed as a significant counterterrorism effort. According to Israel Nitzan, acting consul general in the Consulate General of Israel in New York, the strike aimed to dismantle the operational command center of the notorious ‘Jenin Brigade’ and disrupt their activities.
Nitzan revealed that the center served as a hub for coordinating and communicating among the terrorists, who would gather there before and after carrying out attacks. The facility, which was allegedly used to harbor wanted individuals involved in terror activities, also reportedly housed weapons and explosives. Remarkably, the center was located in close proximity to a hospital, a school, and a United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) school, raising concerns about the terrorists’ disregard for civilian infrastructure.
Rep. Claudia Tenney took to Twitter to express her support for Israel’s right to self-defense and condemned Iran for its role in arming, training, and financing terrorists in the region. Joe Truzman, a research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ Long War Journal, highlighted that the Israeli operation in Jenin was not entirely unexpected. He noted that Iran-backed militant groups had been instigating unrest in the West Bank for over two years, prompting Israeli authorities to take decisive action.
Videos circulating on social media purportedly captured the aftermath of the airstrikes, with scenes of fires and armed gunmen mobilizing. Although details remain unconfirmed, there have been reports of casualties, with at least one person, and possibly three, reported killed, along with several injuries. The situation in Jenin remains tense as the IDF operation unfolds and the repercussions of this counterterrorism effort continue to reverberate.
